Larry Cherubino, owner of Ad Hoc in Western Australia, is causing a stir. His bold and extraordinary wines are something to behold.
The Ad Hoc range features wines that each reflect Cherubino’s take on WA’s classic regional and varietal pairings.
A graduate of Roseworthy College, Larry had a distinguished career with BRL Hardy at Tintara in South Australia and then at Houghton in Western Australia, where his wines won some 80 trophies and 300 gold medals in the highly competitive Australian and International wine show system.
He is renowned for his passionate commitment to maximizing wine quality in vineyard and winery, his state of the art technical knowledge and for having a highly developed understanding of modern wine styles.
The Winemaking Philosophy is simple, 'to source the best examples of each variety from single vineyards in Western Australia. ‘It's all about the vineyard’.
In the future Larry hopes to continue his ‘no compromise’ approach to growing and making wines. He is looking forward to using the best clonal material from around the world and developing a vineyard & winery on the family property in Frankland River.
“Larry Cherubino played a very significant role in the 2005 vintage for us where he was my senior winemaker with specific responsibility for Gimblett Gravels red wines and Chardonnay. In the potentially superb, but very tricky, 2005 vintage Larry Cherubino played a most influential hand, with great sensitivity and skill, and was the perfect partner for me in our decision making at vintage and during assemblage. The result is simply the best Gimblett Gravels red wines we have made.'“
